The Postemouth.

Sir,

Memo:

of 27 May 1861.

With reference to your letter of the 25th inst., and enclosures, herewith returned, relative to five Military Convicts who arrived in Hongkong last from China, on board the "Marchioness of Londonderry", I have the honor to inform you in reply, that these men being Convicts were handed over to the officer who had charge of the Convict Establishment here, they were not included in the embarkation Return of the troops, and no report of their arrival was made by the Prisoners Authorities.

There were three deserters, as shown in the accompanying Copy of a letter that was forwarded to the Adjutant General at the time.
